Sealed until the deadline. Open to everyone after.
That sentence is the whole privacy model of collAnon. This page spells out what it means, and what the server stores.
Who sees what.
While the discussion runs
- Answers and comments without any name, for everyone.
- The number of people taking part.
- Your own vote on each answer, nobody else's.
- For the organiser only: the list of usernames they invited.
After the deadline
- The organiser's username.
- The author of every answer and every comment.
- The participant list.
- The seven vote counts and the approval percentages of every answer.
- A downloadable file with all of the above, for any participant.
Data.
What the server stores.
Your username, a hashed password, an optional email address for password recovery, the discussions you take part in with your answers, comments and votes, and the IP address at signup, login and logout for security auditing.
What the server never does.
It does not attach names to answers while a discussion runs, does not send notifications or emails about discussions, and does not use any of it for advertising. The app loads no analytics and no third-party script.
What stays on your device.
Imported archives and their files live only in your browser and are never uploaded. Clearing the browser storage removes them.
Taking your data away.
Any participant can download an ended discussion as JSON. Deleting your account replaces your username and email with "Deleted user" and clears your password; the answers you wrote stay in the discussions they belong to, under that placeholder.
